The new hymn is "Rise Up O Men of God."

Here's the score:
http://praisewhistlers.org/exchange/son ... _score.pdf

And here's an mp3 of the midi:
http://praisewhistlers.org/exchange/son ... d_midi.mp3

This is a short tune, so if you don't want your finished product to feel short, you might want to consider playing it through 3-4 times, rather than the recommended minimum of 2.

My Hymnal says Aaron wrote this .. :D

this is a slightly different melody than what I am used to heh. more minor in nature. Didyou transpose this from F? that is what my hymnal has it written in.

Nah, you must just have a different melody in your hymnal. Do your melody if you prefer it. :D

So, the idea is to find this or any hymn by this name and play it?

... 8 measures sure doesn't give ya much to play .... or play with ... :?

:-k

Does this change my PWA to "publicly whining again"?

Hey, would you guys like me to get a longer hymn? No problem if you would prefer that.

Shadoes should probably answer this, but I think the idea is to all play the same tune and see how we all interpret it. But we've always accepted alternate tunes and such, and I think somebody even played a tune that a friend had made up to the words.

If you want something longer, I've got something ready........

The original idea behind TPE was for everyone to play the same tune in thier own style and manner and see what came out. We have somewhat drifted a bit from that and there is nothing wrong with that. Alternate melodies are okay.

My point about the melody is when I play this one it sounds very dark but the version I am used to is quite bright hehe.

For the short hymns go thru it more than twice. :) rearrange it. I am somewhat planning to add a bit probably to the beginning and end. keeping with my current electronica phase :)

OOOH, sounds good! So keep it, then?

This is the only tune I've ever heard for these words. If you have a different one I'd be interested in hearing it, even if you plan to do something with what's posted.

I'm good with this one ... interesting melody. Don't know it and will do a bit of research before trying it.

Whatever you decide is fine.

From a personal standpoint I always like to see if myself and others can do more with something less. Simple and short is often time hard to keep interesting. Look at it as a challenge :)

I think what I'll do is start out with a single instrumental voice, then add one more voice for each verse and work my way up to a big ending.

Yea I am actuaklly trying to go for something orchestral sounding but not sure how it will play out. often when I sit down to write with an idea it starts and one thing and ends as something quite different.

Ren-Tin-10 leaps out of the starting gate with our first arrangement. Here it is:

And he says:

All tracks recorded on a Yamaha portable keyboard.

(In case you're wondering, the lovely piano backing is being done with auto-accompany on and one-fingered chords.) Wink

Thankfully, Yamaha keyboards have a one-fingered accompaniment. ;)

NoNo THIS arrangment is more minor than what I am used to here. I will whip out a quick Mp3 of both this one and the one I am used to for comparison although that IS taking time away from working on my actual track hehehehe. give me a few minutes and I will post up.
