Post subject:  Collaboration for Christmas?

If anyone is willing, I think it would be fun to do a collaboration on a Christmas tune. I'd like to play the whistle for "Patapan" and wondered if someone would like to add drum (or something similar). I've played this solo (and it has a tricky spot with a sharp), but I haven't yet recorded. It would sound great with percussion added. Any takers?

There might be others wanting to do collaboration also. Why not use this thread to ask for potential songs, volunteers, etc.
(As we discussed in previous threads, be sure to ask permission before using someone else's work.)

Kitty's already volunteered to do a collaboration with Blackhawk.

Some of the whistley people might work with some of those stringy people. . . . hmmm. :-k

I could try to put a guitar part behind something if someone would like. I could do drums but they would be made on the computer. Have never been able to satisfactorly record my djembes live

I'd like to give it a shot too. I think I'd be limited to guitar or some key pads though.

Count me in, too!

Here's how it could work:

Keith: Whistle
Ed: Guitar #1
Jim C: Key pads and possibly guitar #2
Jim E: Organ pedals and possibly mandolin

Whaddaya think? ;)

Works for me ...

I have to tell you though, I'm adding a Thursday service to my calendar, so time is going to be an issue from this point forward. We're doing a prayer/ healing service in Norge, VA at a community center. That's why I've jumped on the recording thing pretty heavily here lately; my opportunity for recording is fast running out.

But with that qualification ... somebody pick a song. :D

Edit: Likely the song will influence what we do first, melody/lead vs background stuff. We can nail that down when we get a tune.

I think somebody already did.

How's about a key, Keith?

Unfortunately it's going to be a while before I can actually get to this (it may have to wait till next year), but here's the version I'll work from (key of C):
http://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.co ... mborin.htm
http://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.co ... rin-da.pdf

I'd also like to record/collaborate on "Once in Royal David's City." http://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.co ... s_city.htm
It's a nice tune, and it lends itself to adding different instruments and including them all in the last verse.

Any of you are more than welcome to work on this or on other collaborative numbers, but, as I say, it will be a bit before I can actually do much. Sorry.
