Now that we've all learned to play, record and upload our tracks, would anybody care to take it up a notch?

Playing by ourselves, we can fudge a little on the timing and come out with a pretty great project. It can become a little more challenging to play with others, and so many of us stay away from sessions and church orchestras. What if you could learn to play with others in "the comfort of your own home?" (Sorry, I used to be in advertising.)

A few whistlers are working on creating simple accompaniment tracks for new songs as they come up. You can download the track, learn to play along, and upload yourself playing to the track. If you need some help with this, we could provide a tutorial for doing this in Audacity.

Not every new tune will get a new track. Maybe one a month or so. And you don't have to use the track. You can upload the tune any way you want, as always. Whistle solo, add your own accompaniment, dulcimer solo, use the provided accompaniment, whatever...it's still your project. Do it any way you want.

Also, would anyone like to volunteer to help make tracks?

I now have a backing for "I Have Decided to Follow Jesus" on the FTP site. It is 5 verses recorded on a piano in the key of D (mistakes and all, just as if you were playing with another player). The intro starts at "No Turning Back", and there is a slow-down at the end.

Now I also have one for "Faith of our Fathers" out there. Like the other one, it was recorded on a piano. Unlike the other one, it is in the key of G, has a 12-beat intro, and 3 verses.

At the risk of exposing just how clueless I am, how do I find these accompaniment tracks?

As with the accompaniment tracks you buy at the Christian bookstore, a good track comes with a demo. I'm working up a demo for Ren's nifty "Faith of our Fathers" track. When that's done, I'll post the track along with the demo.

Any other track Ren might have mentioned.. :-' ...would be in reference to an upcoming TPE tune. And THAT's to be unveiled in a couple of weeks. :D

The tracks are going to be fun!

Check the first link of the Faith of our Fathers thread. Ren's track is there, with a demo. Have fun!

Thanks, Ren.
