I have to say Jim's pretty well described my feelings on the intimidation factor. (That makes 2 of us, Jim! 8) ) But, I am working on it .... just probably won't be before the next song gets posted. Time to record and figure out how to fix it, is at a premium at the moment.

Actually, I want to just send my clip to Kitty or Gary ... anybody and say ..."Fix this, please!! I'll send chocolate ...."

To all who have recorded -- THANKS!!! My "PWA Plays Amazing Grace" CD is now going to be at least 21:03 minutes long ..... and my sister wants a copy, too.

You're browsing the web using Internet Explorer, right?

Yes, I am. Before I upgraded to internet explorer 6, I could get to the site, but when I clicked on the folder, it wouldn't open. Now, when I type in ftp://praisewhistlers.org, a page comes up that says it can't be found. It suggests useing msn, or yahoo, but those just give links to the forum.

Works for me. But in the link in your post, you have an intruding comma! :)

Sorry Ed, I don't see how I looked everywhere but the guidelines! I'll get right to it.

Actually, the comma is just for the sentance in the post. (How dare it intrude like that.)

Here is Kristos' track.

http://praisewhistlers.org/exchange/songfile/AmazingGrace_kristos.mp3

And here is what he had to say about it.

Quote:
It is how I usually play Amazing Grace, played on a Dixon low D.
The Dixon low D is a beautiful quiet whistle that's perfect for playing
in the car or when somebody's asleep or in a small room or for
those tunes with 'soaring octaves', well, 2 soaring octaves anyway.
Then follows me playing it a faster, bouncier way for two verses.

I have to say I like the sound of that dixon. I had not heard the low D yet. And the joyful second verses is just fun.

If that's Ron's problem then you might want to check out the instructions on the praise clips "how-to" thread. What he used is what is there -- at least that's how it was listed around 5 o'clock this morning. 8)

Ok.... I'm at the page right now, where you open the upload folder, but it gets stuck when I click on it.

Ok... I just checked again, and it says, 'This is the upload folder for the Praise exchange'. Is this where I drag my file?

 I may have finaly done it. We'll see. If it shows up.

If it does, I'll have my two year old sing for me on another one.

And at last but we get Eternal Bro's file uploaded. And there was much rejoicing(yay) hehe sorry Monty Python reference.

and of this track EB has this to say

Quote:
I used a Hoover d praise whistle, and a Hohner Golden Melody harmonica, in g.

The background noise is my fridge running. I've got an old Compaq computer, with a mic. built into the monitor, so the quality isn't what I'd like.

:D Thanks. The timing was a little off, but I was trying to get it done while the little one was getting her bath. It's not often, that the only noise I have to contend with is the fridge.

Now that I've posted, there's no need for anyone to be intimidated.

:D JUST DO IT!!! :D

When Alissa gets up I'll see if she wants to sing with me over a bowl of cheerios.

Good job, Jim. I'd say from the clip it sounds like you weren't close enough to the microphone, but it may just be the mic.

Judy, that whistle has such a deep sound, that my mental image is a small lady behind a big whistle. :) I'm sure it's not that big, though. ;)

I am still trying to figure it all out ... I was close to the mic but have no idea what the mic gain was set on. Just found out there was one. :D

I am happy to have it up .. will try to improve as I go ... I am "smarter than I look" as Kitty says .. but then I don't look all that good!!!

With me and my playing it's like Twain said of Wagner: "Wagner's music is better than it sounds." :)

At least my clip is short .... :D

My whistle isn't a whistle at all, but a folk flute from Casey Burns, low D.

Mic gain? What the ... ? Ok, this stuff is getting too complicated. I'm going back to taxes .....
