I was close to the mic but have no idea what the mic gain was set on. Just found out there was one.

Mic gain? What the ... ? Ok, this stuff is getting too complicated. I'm going back to taxes .....

It works like a quiet woman justifying her taxes (low volume) and the guy that is trying to take off the entire county of Los Angeles as dependents (high volume) - see nothing complicated here!

I liked it too ... glad it only took you a new computer to get it up ... could have been expensive! :D

Thank you, Judy. :) And no, actually I used my old Burke composite A. I love that whistle.

I think I may submit another one, since last night I brought home my Alba low G from my locker at work. I love that whistle.

Well, I look at it this way. Now that I have paid the $700 for a new computer to play one song, I can do everything else from now on for free.

Judy!! That's so pretty! I love the sound of that flute. And now that I have a flute in-house, I can definitely appreciate the talent it takes to play one with such pretty ornaments. Definite thumbs-up!

Hey, Blackhawk!! I love that clip, Brother. Nice, clean playing. Glad you got your new computer and mic up and running.

Gotta love that Burke composite. Classy sound. It seems almost vocal.

Thank you for the kind words, Connie, especially given the level of your own playing. :) I do love that Burke comp. Now that I have a new computer and can record music, I'm having a blast with the Burke comp A, my Gen Bb original and my Alba low G. I'm just having soooo much fun!

Thanks, Connie. I love my Casey Burns flute. It's so much easier to play than the Dixon I bought first. One thing about the ornaments .... a flub in the right place can sound half-way decent, sometimes. ;)

Here's another clip from Judy, which makes me feel better because I won't seem so late when I finally get around to recording All Hail The Power. :)

She writes:
"I wanted another shot at 'Amazing Grace'. Once again, I used the CB folk flute with a Finale midi of harp, whistle & piano. I think I'm developing a 'rut' -- but I love the sound of the harp & piano midis. :D "

Always glad to be of some service, Kitty. 8)

I haven't recorded "Jesus Paid It all" yet either. Does that help, too?

Wow, Judy! You keep this up and I'll have to buy your upcoming CD! Nice job. That harp is really nice. And I REALLY like the arrangement on the second verse. Nicely ornamented, too. =D> =D> =D>

Connie, if any CD gets made  it will be free to anyone that likes elevator music ... ;) I do like searching for neat arrangements, like the second verse. In a longer version I didn't send in, I just let the midi play a third verse, then back to the flute on a fourth.

I love this one Josh. It is so well done. My wife and I both thought it was a tremendous version. The ornaments are so well done. Keep posting.

Nice, Josh. Interestingly, I can hear traces of Connie's style of playing coming through your music (as one might expect of teacher and student) but then you really take things and make them your own.

So which whistle were you playing?

Beautiful, Josh! You have achieved so much on the whistle in your year of playing -- more than I have after 5 years. Please keep recording. It's a treat to listen to you.

Guess I'd better post this here. It's just for fun. Amazing Grace on a Bb Susato run through a guitar's distortion pedal.

Wow, this takes me back! My first ever low D was a Howard nickel low D in back in 1982. I didn't master mine back then but Blackhawk makes his sound just fine.

Susan will like this clip. Only last week she emailed me from London and said she had been playing whistles in the Hobgoblin shop and had decided that she liked the Howard low D the best.
