Played on my Howard low D.:)

Wow, this takes me back! My first ever low D was a Howard nickel low D in back in 1982. I didn't master mine back then but Blackhawk makes his sound just fine.

Susan will like this clip. Only last week she emailed me from London and said she had been playing whistles in the Hobgoblin shop and had decided that she liked the Howard low D the best.
That's really interesting, Adrian. The Howard was my first low whistle ever, and my first actual high ender (compared to Waltons and Gens, etc). I've owned several Overtons, 2 Copelands, a Chieftain, and I like this Howard better than all of them. I just sold 2 whistles on C&F and used the money to get a Reyburn low D and a tunable Chieftain low D. I'll enjoy comparing them to the Howard. Btw, Susan has great taste. :)

I find this hard to believe. I have a Howard nickel low D that I can seldom hit the 2nd octave D cleanly. This is great. I have never heard a Howard played so well.

Thank you, Ron! I'm wondering if the nickel has an effect on the sound. I have a black Acorn whistle that I think is the best cheapie I ever played. I liked it so much that decided to get a spare. I got 2 brass Acorns and they are the worst cheapies I've ever played. So, curious, I got a second black one and it sounds as good as the first one. Weird.

Hello all,

I made sure I put my second endeavor in its rightful place. Here I experimented on combining my classical guitar and Burke NBD. I wanted to keep it simple until I get used to this. I am really enjoying this and it is good for my stage fright.

Wow, that's gorgeous, Paulette! I like it so much that I saved it to my desktop, then used Audacity to make it repeat ten times. Good job, Paulette!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I will start on another one soon. I'll try to make this one longer. I made it short so I had less opportunities to make mistakes.

I don't think you need to worry about making mistakes. You sound like an accomplished musician to me!

Hey, we all make those mistakes. Just hit the delete key and start over. You should see how many takes I have to do to get one song that I'm willing to post.
