Well, today is September 26, so you know what that means - LESS THAN THREE MONTHS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! 8)

Here's a thought: Could we do a Praise Exchange Christmas Album? We could have a folder set up on the FTP site just for this, and work it the same way we do TPE, except that each of us gets to choose 3 or 4 Christmas tunes for our own performance, then set a deadline of around December 15 or so. That way we can download all the tunes and burn CD's for our friends and families.

What do you think? :?:

That would be a good goal for me.

Susan is asking can we post simple recorder duets?

I don't know about the rest of you, but it wouldn't bother me in the least even if it's a hurdy-gurdy orchestra! ;)

I would love to hear recorder duets. (Shucks, I can even type recorder without all the asteriks used on the big blue board. ;) ) If memory serves, Walden whistled (by mouth) Jingle-Bells for one of the Chiffy Christmas session -- sounded great!

Hehe!

By the way, I have been known to play a cheap plastic recorder now and then, especially if I need to hit a C or C# below D. Of course, I wasn't forced to play one in grade school, either.

I'm very excited about this. I've already started thinking about what I'd like to play, how, and with what whistles. And I especially like the idea of a CD of these (including of others on the board--with permission of course) to send to family and friends along with our yearly Christmas letter.

It's mid-October. I think I'll start inflicting Christmas music on the neighbors soon. 8)

Slán all,

Just posted my fave low D piece, In the Bleak Midwinter, in the Christmas folder.

ftp.praisewhistlers.org/exchange/upload/Christmas-2006/inthebleakmidwinter_nedothehill.mp3

Hope that works; there's a space in the folder name.

Just added "O Come All Ye Faithful (MD Mix), along with "The Friendly Beasts" from yesterday.

You know it! The neighbors have a tough time of it -- think what it must be like for my wife. :-#

Just got my 3rd Christmas tune on:

"What Child is This?"

Played on mountain dulcimer (DGd tuning on chords, DBd on melody).

So, do we get links to these tunes? Or do we just go to the Christmas folder to hear/save them? How is this going to work? :?:

Convert it to an MP3 file and then see this thread for directions on getting it uploaded.

http://praisewhistlers.org/pwboard/viewtopic.php?t=835

When you connect to the upload folder, you will most likely see the Christmas folder. Drag your files into there and then let us know it's ready for a listen. :)

They are there in the Christmas folder at last thanks to several kind people. We played Dream Flutes in our front room.

Just added "Away In A Manger" to the Christmas folder, dulcimer only, no doctoring except for making it a bit louder --- so there's a dulcimer clip from me for you, Adrian.

By the way, you can see the entire listing of songs in the Christmas folder here:

It's just a simple list and you have to click on each song to hear it, but it is updated immediately as new songs are uploaded.

I'm having fun listening my way through the list.
