This is great Kitty, I have been downloading them as they come in so I can make myself a CD of everyone's songs.

I just posted "O Holy Night" for what it's worth. I finally quit trying to get it perfect. I would get almost to the end and make a mistake so I took the 2 better ones of the probably 300  trys and that's what ya get. I played this on my HD and added the Q1 in with it. This is my own arrangement, if you can call it an arrangement. It's not written down anywhere.

Kathy :)

Okay this is a work in progress but thought I would post it just to prove I am still playing the whistle hehehehe Two verses of the First Nowell duet whistles. Both my O'brien maple(my alltime favORITE soprano D hehe)

enjoy the current progress. Want to add some fingerpicked acoustic and maybe a touch of keyboard.

okay so I know RenTin has already done a version of this..but... I found this lovely midi file on the web and take no credit for anything on this other than the mix and the whistle...so anyway give this a listen if you feel the urge :) hosted this on my own webspace for ease.

I'm really enjoying listening to everyones songs. I have been downloading them as they come in. I am going to fill a CD with all of them so I an enjoy them while I am working in the kitchen or driving in the car.

Judy! You did a great job on "Away in A Manger"! You're doing great on your flatpicking! I did a version of "Away in A Manger" on my HD and posted it too. I hope you didn't mind my posting the same song. I figured that since it's not the same instrument, it would be ok.

I hope that people will post some of the same songs that I sent in so I can hear how they are playing them.

Shadoes,
I love your Nowell. I think it would be nice if you post your "What Child Is This" on the PWA Christmas list too. That way it's all together. Going to go upload this one now.

RenTin,
I love the sound of the DGd and DBd tuning on "What Child Is This." So many tunings, so little time!!!

Kathy :)

Flatpicking? Is that what I was doing? Just thought it sounded neat ... :D I like your version on the HD & whistle, too. Posting the same song by different players is a good thing, IMO --- like Ned's & Ren's "In the Bleak Midwinter"

.... add my thanks to everyone also! This was a great idea, Ren -- and a fun project.

We added probably the last from us for this year.

Recorder duets:

I saw three ships
Silent Night
Coventry Carol

Also

Auld Lang Syne - Chieftan A
All you that in this house - Burke Viper low D (I rarely play low whistles!)
We wish you a merry Christmas - Mercifuly short as it is on a sopranino
Good Christian men rejoice - also on a sopranino

I realise that they are all a bit raw but we were limited with time.

Added one more -- A Christmas Medley. Includes "I Wonder As I Wander", "The Coventry Carol", and "Pat-a-Pan" -- Finale midi with harp, guitar, strings & flute plus my effort on the folk flute. Figured out I can't play a good G# on the folk flute ... :?

... is this the start of longing for a keyed flute??

Keith, I really like your tunes you have posted. I have just downloaded the latest that everyone posted, and I have been keeping count so I know when someone has posted a new one and I can grab it. I noticed today that your "IIEst-Ne--HelsBorn" is not there anymore. I have it copied, but maybe others would like to have it too. It is beautiful.

This is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering about this. The other day, I asked Kitty to remove my first "I Wonder.." because I recorded a new one, and then when it didn't load right, I asked her to delete the 2nd one too. She removed them for me, but she said that I could have done it myself. Does this mean that if there are people who are not members of PWA that might somehow get the ftp address could go in there and reek havoc? That was the first thing that came to my mind when I noticed that Keith's one tune wasn't there anymore. :?

I love everyones songs that you have shared. You all play beautifully. It's so relaxing to turn on my media player and hear all of the songs. I will be listening tomorrow for most of the day as I have to have my QuickBooks up to date for my accountant. I seem to have gotten a little behind with them.

Kathy :)

Kathy,

Thanks for your note. I took it out because I thought maybe it wasn't very good. I felt like I rushed some of the middle part and I didn't have time to go back and record again. I'll put it back up tomorrow when I get back to my computer that has the clip (or if someone else is able and would download it for me that would be okay too ;) ).

Cheers and Christmas greetings to all.

Today in my Junior High music appreciation/art class I used music from the Praise Exchange album for my background music. They enjoyed the recorder duets, Adrian and Susan. They also enjoyed all the dulcimer music. I enjoyed the peace.

This has been a great idea!!!! Let's do it again next year.

I think doing this again next year would be great (though I hope folks will still post more Christmas tunes this year). What if we did something like this during Passion week and Easter? The format and then the access to the tunes the way it is now seems to work well.

For those who don't read French, Adrian is saying he'd like us all to buy him an Accord. It's a fine car, but what does it have to do with whistles? :?

(Okay, it's finals time and I have too much time on my hands.)

I think he's having trouble with his guitar. Seizing up on a chord or something. Adrian??? You need help with a chord, there?
