Today we got up at 5am and went for a mountain walk together. Up in the hills we met this shepherd.

Image

He is a Pontic and so speaks Greek which is more like that of the New Testament than modern Greek.

He had a flock of several hundred sheep and goats but had lost exactly 10. We asked him how he could be sure and he replied: "I know all my flock as I am with them every day; if one goes missing then I know and I go looking for it."

We were interested as he interacted with the flock and the animals responded to his calls and whistles. Asked about why the flock did what he said, he replied: "They know my voice and without me they are frightened."

I thought some might like to here this as the parallel with the gospel was quite strong.

Some of his goats.

Wolves are a constant problem and so he has fierce sheepdogs that walk around with the flock. That reminded me of the angels.

Thank you Adrian, sometimes the picture I paint in my mind does not capture the true spirit of the word...... your pictures really bring things to life.

Peace,
Micheal

That's just beyond words ...

The Gospel in real time.

I'm deeply touched brother - thanks for sharing.

Well said, Adrian. I love this. My wife especially loves the artwork where it shows Jesus with sheep...it really comforts her. I brought her over and had her read this thread. She loved it, and I do, too.

Thank you for sharing, Adrian.

Again we see how powerful a storyteller Jesus was in getting His message to the people.

I got chills reading your post.

God Bless,

Jorg

I love this. It tells us how right on the Savior was when he spoke in parables. Certainly those who were shepherds knew what he was saying to them. I will probably use this sometime when I am speaking.
