This is in my neighbor's side yard.

For a few weeks every Spring, I can smell these when I open my front door.

Of course it was a very still evening until JUST before I wanted to take pictures... then the wind came up. :x

But I managed to find a moment where the closeup was still.

Oh, and those plants you see shooting up from the ground in the first shot.... that's spearmint that is almost as high as my waist!

(Granted, my waist is not very high, but still.....)

Very nice shots .... wind is a pain at times but you did good. doesn't seem to have any problems with bugs .. would be nice.

I took another look at the plants coming up from the ground and figure ... conservatively speaking ..... you are about 4'2" give or take a little  They don't appear any higher than the gas meter. :D

You keep on telling them like that and we can probably get you honorary citizenship in the great State of Texas!

Then you have some tall gas meters LOL!!! My daughters are around the same height and have argued for ages about who is the tallest. Are your girls taller or shorter???

Well I guess we DO because here's the proof. I have my right hand at my waist so you can see they ARE almost that high!

Them's great roses Kitty.

Our spearmint in Carbondale gave up everywhere but around the fire hydrant. We had liked it for tea till then.

That hydrant that had had a break in the line under the street for years and finally had to be dug up and repaired. The elm tree that sprouted just asross the driveway from it grew to over forty feet and had a stump over two feet in diameter when we cut it after fifteen years.

Elms and spearmint like to be watered.

Roses and tomatoes do too.

Tomorrow we are picking our first tomaters!
