Post subject:  Our Sunday walk

We had not been out for a walk together for a few weeks so we went out for the day. Here are some snaps.

This river is about 6 miles from our home. The super thing is that very few people come here and so it is very quiet.

Susan playing her Dreamflute on the sandy beach next to the river. There is an echo so it sounds as if there is natural reverb.

More river. I spent the best part of an hour playing whistles on the hill in the distance - bliss!

Wild pomegranate. There were also figs and walnuts along the way.

Some fotos are best taken while lying on your back

Thank you. We are blessed to have such nice places so very close to our house. This is a pic of the river before the gorge on Sunday.

Would say that the only reason you have good photos is because you live in such a scenic area but wouldn't be the truth. Have seen you make great photos out of the common things around you. You have a very good eye and an equally sharp imagination.

I would have never been able to get the shot lying on my back ... would have been asleep before the shutter closed!

Very nice pictures

What a great walk. Incredible pictures. The number of tunes I can play without looking at sheet music would take me five minutes. Thanks for sharing

There was an embarrassing moment in a ski lift in Croatia in 1999 when Susan asked me to play something from memory on a recorder. I fluffed the one tune I tried. My shame drove me to memorizing tunes. I now have about 200 Irish and folk tunes, 300+ hymns and worship songs and 42 Christmas songs memorized to date. This journey also taught me to play by ear. The numbers above might look impressive but they are not really all I have to remember is the name of the tune and the starting notes and the rest of the tune comes without thinking.

I heartily recommend memorizing tunes and learning to play by ear.

Thank you for your kind words about the fotos.

You were a professional photographer so you know that good fotos are usually a combination of hard work, experience and a lot of luck. I just rely on luck. :D
