thanks for sharing these....................as we learn more about history etc from the early days ...we so often think of all such folk as primitive....our arrogance takes a knock.......when we begin to discover they knew more than we thought they did.....

Very true Les ... and in time (if there is that much time) people will wonder at how primative we were.

Nice pics ... you live in an interesting area... more please.

em....good point Jim, lad........do wonder at times if , in about a thousand years or so, someone might dig us up...and say...particularly in your case....'they were more primitive than we expected'...or if it's me...'em..they were a good looking intelligent lot'.sorry...going through another silly spell.......

Don, how far is this from Phoenix, and which direction? One of my hobbies is visiting archeological sites around the world, but I've never been to one in America. In a couple of years my wife and I are planning a trip to Canyon de Chelly. Maybe we could swing by this site on the way.

Blackhawk,

30 miles south, a few miles east of I-10. They sell overpriced native american flutes in the Museam. Up the road a piece is a far more preserved city called Osh Be Gawa up on a bluff over a river in Globe AZ, it was picked over for decades by the locals until a women arrived in the 30s and dedicated her life to rebuilding the walls, there you have real evidence of the way of life from streets to gathering areas, to worship building, of course they cooked on the roof and went inside to be cool, so most homes were half basements. They have no reason as to why it was suddenly abandoned, they also have evidence of indian trading routes where goods and crops were sold from city to city. Come on over.

Don

Excellent, Don, and thanks, that's exactly the information I was looking for. Have you ever heard of Chaco Canyon? I saw a documentary on it and I think it's probably the most intriguing place on this continent:
