I went for a short walk today and found dandelions out already.

There were also some bright yellow butterflies, but they didn't rest long enough for me to take a photograph.

It was so warm in the sun that I had to take my jacket off. Later I enjoyed playing my recorders in the woods.

Susan...just love the photos.....and they just cry out 'spring is here'...sadly it just aint here today....really cold and although it's bright....it is certainly more winter than spring.......although I have seen flowers out just too early and a real cold snap will do them no good , I fear....me neither...

Les, We read that there was a great freeze in the UK. Hope you're okay and keeping warm.

Nice pics .. and on the butterflies .. put the camera on automatic .. burst shots ... and when they start to land ... push the shutter. If you try to adjust manual .. you will end up throwing your camera at Adrian!!! ;)

Butterflies are wet in the early morning and will spread out their wings when the sun comes up to dry them. They can't fly until this happens so if you see one then ..you will get him/her looking good and motionless.

Sounds like you seized the day.

Your macro setting works very nicely.

Thanks for the tips Jim. You're obviously the butterfly expert.

No expert here ... just found out the hard way ..... they are faster than they appear. ;)

Look to see where the butterflies have landed at dusk in your garden and get up early and you will find that usually they are still there in the morning waiting for the sun to rise.
