Well ... this is an example of how not to take pictures. These birds all appeared at the same time ... I was inside ... and knew if I opened the door .. they would take off .. so I shot through the glass door. I did not have a polarizing filter on my camera and you can see the results ... the last shot is a hawk taken in another location. I could have had a great shot with a longer lens .. but I didn't. So ... as my Daddy use to say ... if you want good results .. you have to have the right equipment. Oh .. I guess this is my "Spring is here" shots .. but will try again soon and see if I can do better. The birds all looked great .. the problem is with the operator.

Right equipment or not they still look pretty good to me. Is that a red-tailed hawk in the last pic?

Well, those ARE pretty! I kind of like the graininess in the first one. I'll bet the bluebird would be usable as a smaller scaled picture, and they're all nice captures of birds.

More spring pictures, puh-LEASE!!

Ooooh, I love these pics! My favorite is the fountain with the cardinal and finches, then, the bluebird. I love the expression on the cardinal. Nice, Jim.

The Cardinal seems to be saying "No pictures please...dang papparazzi..."

For years now since I actually got pet birds I have been totally amazed at the range of expressions they can make with an unmoveable mouth. But my birds smile, frown, show anger. All thru the eyes and body language.

I love the Hawk. Hawks are my favorite birds. I have been trying to get a good picture for quite a while. There is one place near my MILs house where a beautiful bald eagle hangs out. Someday I will catch him on my silcon.

I have tried to sneak up on this one several times ... and think he is playing with me ... I get fairly close .. and as soon as I raise the camera .. he is gone. Maybe it is the lens he sees or the movement ... but I am liike you .. one of these days .. I am going to get close enough to get a good picture. I wish you luck on yours .. and hope you get the eagle as well .. they are beautiful birds.
