At least I think it could be the same squirrel. He showed up and posed nicely for me. He had a black walnut, which kept him busy while I shot almost 40 pictures! Great learning experience.

Two that worked out the best:

He's cool - very photogenic  . That's a fox squirrel, yes?

Thanks for the really nice pics, Connie. Don't get to see many squirrels around my apartment complex, but I know they're here. I really need to go out more!

So .... I assume you are paying him union wages in walnuts? ;)

It is great when you get a willing subject like that .. you can ...as you say .. practice a lot of different things. Notice that you are shooting about eye level .. how does that work out .... he seems to be in a tree. Have you gone so far as to climb up there with him? :-k

Very nice work .... everything was working for you on these pics. =D> =D>

I'm not that far gone.

Here's the back of my house. I was shooting out of the sliding glass door.

Adrian, I hadn't made up any captions. You have any ideas?

Good one, Jim. How about this?

He obviously loves to be photographed. In the first picture he has his head slightly to one side and looks as though he's listening to something. Does he have any friends?

He does have friends. I thought maybe he was trying out his back teeth on the walnut. You can get better leverage back closer to your jaw. Those walnuts can be pretty tough. The best way to crack one open is to run over it with a car.

This time of year his friends were probably asleep, and he was out enjoying a midnight snack. They seem to go through a loose hibernation in which they may wake up for a while on a nice day and run around playing for a little while. Then it's back to the nest for a long, long sleep.
