Post subject:  Romans VIII

I wrote this paraphrase of part of the eighth chapter of Romans, back in July. More recently, I have been reading that chapter daily, as a dear friend in Christ recommended I "read Romans 8 till it's coming out your ears." Now, I am thinking about adding to this poem by doing the rest of the chapter in metered verse.

We know that it is understood,
All things together work for good,
To them that love our living God,
According to His purpose called.

Whom He foreknew, the Bible states,
He also did predestinate
To His Son's image to conform,
Of many brothers the firstborn!

This precious truth is glad recalled:
Whom He predestined, them He called,
And whom our God has justified,
He also them has glorified.

With joy these thoughts the heart e'er sings,
What shall we then say to these things?
If God be for us, who can be
Against, against us, you and me?

Oh, He that spared not His own Son,
But gave Him for us every one,
How shall He not with Him, to bring,
Give us, so freely, everything?

good one as usual .. but you quit too soon. IMHO ... the last part of 8 is what I stand on.

Rough Texas translation

Ain't nobody .. no way .. no how .. gonna separate me from the love of God found in Jesus.

I agree with Jim, good way of looking at things and I hope to see more when you get around to writing it down. Sometimes it helps looking at things from someone elses point of view.

Jim, that didn't sound like a rough Texas translation to me, you hit the nail right on the head. Is that from the NTV? (New Texas Version)

Good translation. Have you translated other parts of the Bible?

Only in a few areas ... I read a book once called the "Cottonfield translation of the New Testament" ... written by slaves during the early years of America.... the book was good. ... the times were not for them ..yet that book .. showed that their hope was in God not their circumstances.

Jim, That's very interesting? In 1983 I was on a mission in Scotland and came across the Bible in the Scots dialect. Initially I thought it had been done for fun but later realised that many loved that the Bible was available in their dialect.

Ooops! Way off topic. Sorry
