My niece was exploring the world wide wobbly and popped my name into Google. I thought there would be zero results. Wrong ... she found some of my tunes from the Praise Exchange listed on traxbox.net, robomusic.org, musicbag.org, etc .... Strangely enough they all seem to be from the TPE Christmas album 2007 -- and tunes that were loaded into the FTP folder, not my 4shared.com account. (Although that came up in the search, too. So much for 'unsearchable' options. ](*,) )

Any way of getting these removed from those sites? :-k Or do I just pity the dummies that might download the music expecting .... music? :P

Once on the net, always on the net?

There are lots of "free MP3" sites out there that send robots to scour the internet looking for mp3 files, which they then list hoping to get people to come to their site. They make money by selling ads and hosting other "less innocent" links, hoping to entice visitors into paying for things other than mp3's.

I don't remember exactly how we set up the Christmas folder, but if there is no password then anyone can download the contents.

You could always threaten them with copyright infringement.

Thanks for the info, Kitty. It's not a big deal ... just surprising to discover. Doubt any threats of copyright infringement would be worth the effort involved.

I can't remember not having a password to get into the ftp folder. But that year we did use the in-post mp3 player on most of the songs instead of links. Maybe that was the difference.

If you have a lawyer friend you might get them to whip up a cease and desist on some company letter head. But as long as they are not charging for the tracks not sure there is a lot you could do.
