If you haven't seen this thread at C&F, you ought to give this a read. The tweak that he recommends works especially well on the Susato.

Those who have early JudyK whistles, may note high breath requirements. I didn't have any o rings around, but I tried one of those little cloth-covered pony tail holders. It goes around the head of the whistle, just above the top of the sound hole. It gave a nice bit of backpressure.

One of my favorite whistles just got favoriter!! :?

Keith played his Susatoes for me, with and without the tweak. I was surprised by the difference, before and after.

I just saw this post, and want to try it on my Susato Low D. How do I know what diameter piping it is (S? M?) I guess I can measure it.

Wow, I'm glad to see this. I love my susato... in the lower register. I'm going to have to try this out! Thanks for posting (and bumping back up to the top.)

ETA: Just got back from dropping off daughter at dance class... and a side trip to home depot. It may help to note (which never seems to be said in the original thread) that you'll find these things under "faucet repair". Anyway, I think it slightly sweetens my 2nd octave on the susato, PLUS (and this is a big plus for me), it really improves the overall tone on my Sweetone C, which I was starting to really dislike before today! Yay!

I got a Low A and Low G last week secondhand and had to go to two HomeDepots before I found #15 Danko O Rings, I have a bunch left over if you can't find any. Can I email O rings????? It really does sound better but that upper register can get out of control quickly for me.

I'll bet you can email O-rings. But, as Blackhawk will tell you, just be sure to ensure them.
