Post subject:  Moving the Whistle creates vibrato??

I create a nice vibrato by moving the instrument back and forth. Why is this not mentioned anywhere as a technique? Looks weird, but to me it sounds better than fluttering the fingers over the holes and works on the whole register. I have yet to hit my teeth.

Very interesting. I tried moving it up and down, and that gave me the best affect. Was that what you were doing?

Not a technique that I will adopt but you are right that it does work. For me the vibrato is very subtle when using your method. Thanks for inventing /discovering this!

I am talking about moving the flute body in and out against the lower lip, just a half inch or so, and especially with the low D when all fingers are employed, this movement can be fast or slow and it really produces a nice vibrato.
