From western Australia to Arizona, the whistes from Brett arrived yesterday and were picked up today. First test drive was pleasant and successful. More when I have had time to play. Our church choir is doing a wonderful arrangement of the Shaker Hymn this pre Thanksgiving Sunday, Its a gift to be simple, with an oboe solo weaving througout the piece. Hope one day to help in a song like that with the whistle.

Very grateful for this early Christmas present. My wife Laura was gracious about the whole thing.

Good buy (not goodbye) Don. I hope they serve you well. I played the Low C again for a while the other day. Still love it.

Really! Mine's mean as a snake :D .

I'm kidding ... she is no doubt the best half of 'us'. I don't know what I'd do without her.

Congrats on the whistle ... play us a song!

I done told you, "Its A Gift To Be Simple"
Tis a gift to be simple tis a gift to be free,
tis a gift to come down where you ought to be
and when you arrive at the place just right
you find yourself in a land of peace and light?????? or something like that.

Adrian, while you have a moment of extra time. Walk me through the procedure of showing a picture in a message. I have some stuff at the following online web Picasa Page.

Don,

You'll be glad to know that I ordered a D body (and an Eb body) for my Reviol. They arrived about a week ago. Really nice sound. I hope to create some time in about a month to record something and let folks hear.

Adrian and Keith,

If money were no object, I would own some Overtons, and someday I will. But as I listen to them on YouTube, I really feel my Reviols have that growly, reverby, cosmic pipey type sound.
Maybe thats what you get when you buy something crafted carefully. I feel somehow the fipple design and the way it hits the windway make these higher end whistles sound so good.

But what do I know?????

Don
Do you have some links to Reviol whistles on You Tube please. I can only find a video of a Reviol flute. Thanks

Adrian,

I was referring to the many overton clips and the comparison was to yours truly me, playing in large empty spaces or with my reverb on my guitar amp. I am not sure I have heard someone on Youtube playing a Reviol. Excuse the confusion, maybe Keith will oblige us both since he is good at recording for us.

Ah yes. Definitely the cosmic drainpipe sound. I'd forgotten what they sounded like. Thanks Keith.

OK, the only really big gap in my whistle collection is the Key of F. Which is being occupied by a Whistlesmith at the moment.

I went to the Overton site today and cannot figure out how much it would cost me to buy a new turnable Low F and have it shipped to AZ?????

Any guestaments?

Sell your car if you are short of funds! The Overton F is the eighth wonder of the world.
