I don't know what to do with it. Saw a post on C&F. Right now, I curl it under whistle. I try to use it to stabilize the whistle but it feels funny that way. Is this a habit I need to change? What do you all do w/your pinkie? (never liked saying that word--pinkie--but it's easier than Fifth upper phalange)

Jorg

I let mine hang out in the air. Some people put it on top of the whistle some under. Do whatever you are comfortable with. Go to youtube and look at a number of whistle players and see what they do.

I just leave it on my hand.

Don't think about it. Just play.

Kitty's right, imo. It doesn't matter. If it feels weird, change it. If it feels okay, keep doing it.

My pinkie doesn't even touch the whistle at all .... too short. It just hangs out all by itself ... all alone. :(

;)

Do what's comfortable for you, Jorg. If you don't feel you need to stabilize the whistle with your RH pinkie, don't worry about it. It might make more of a difference on larger, weightier, lower whistles ... might not.

Mine is just above the whistle. However, when I get up into the left hand notes, my right pinkie automatically goes down on the whistle, and stabilizes it. It just does it all by itself.
