Post subject:  Whistle maker making a string instrument

Last night night after braving the ice of the roads, I got home and finished this Cigar Box Mandolin:

Another person did the artwork (woodburning), the thick parts of the trees make up the soundholes

Also, much thanks to Mack Hoover on various advice on things like this. The action was low and comfortable and it's the best sounding that I've made. It has a little Piezoelectic disk pickup (Radio Shack part) but makes plenty of good acoustic level of sound.
I did change the top of the cigar box from the Spanish Cedar plywood to a nice solid piece of Spanish Cedar with a little bit of bracing underneath.

Looked and thought .... no sound holes? ... then realized you hid them in the branches. Very cool, Daniel!
