Post subject:  need advice on Water Weasel repair

Hi folks,

My beloved Water Weasel broke at the tuning joint. I would really like to use it to accompany my wife singing a song in church next Sunday. I've tried my other whistles but can't get the slow expressiveness I need from those, which have smaller tone holes and less responsiveness than my old axe.

I have uploaded a picture of the broken whistle but guess it won't show up until admin approves.

When it shows up could people share any successful experiences you may have had?

The break is pretty clean, it should re-seat without much problem. I doubt the head will slide all the way down any more once it is glued back, but fortunately the break is down near the bottom of the slide joint and likely to stay in concert pitch the head will never need to go down that far.

What bonding agents might work best with PVC? Assume PVC glue, but I've never even done PVC plumbing bonding before, not sure how good I would be at that. Such a delicate joint.

thanks for advice,

Hi Judd,

You're free to post images now. Please upload your pic here.

By the way, I had a Thin Weasel that cracked right at the tuning joint. Mack Hoover (our board's founder) fixed it for me when I was fortunate enough to drop by for a visit.

Yeah, funny thing; I have a low G Water Weasel cracked at the joint. It plays fine but I've worried its days might be numbered.
