Sorry I've been only lurking lately. Been tied up with a surgery in the family (everything turned out fine, praise God) and a bunch of work-related national meetings at the beginning of the year (just put your brain in neutral.....)

You all have been in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope you are all well.

Welcome Gregory! I haven't had time to listen to alot of the clips posted yet, but I intend to do so shortly.

Adrian, I love your posts of Greece(the people and countryside) - always a blessing.

On that note, I do have a query: I would like to try posting tunes, as my wife plays guitar also for accompinament and sings. What does anyone recommend for hardware/software for the computer? I'm fairly computer literate but I've never explored this.

Things are starting to settle down so I hope to have more time to practice/play, and participate in PWA.

God Bless,
Jorg

Well, if it's free, I like it! ;)

I recommend you try Audacity for recording the tracks and then mixing, adding FX, and exporting to MP3. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Then if you find out you need something a little more powerful, you can look into some of the paid software programs (although I'm fine Audacity myself, and I'm an audio geek).

You'll need a mic of some kind. Don't go overboard at first. Again, you can always buy an expensive mic down the road if you find that you need it. For now, borrow something from church.

Does your wife's guitar have a pickup? It's nice to go direct from that rather than using a mic on the guitar. I just ordered one of these little toys to see if I can get my guitar into the computer with less noise than I do now:

For basic recording, take a look at this thread.

Thanks, Kitty! I'll check it out!
