Well, I sure hope this worked, and if it did, I sure hope I remember how I did it! This piece is by Serge Rachmaninoff. I recorded this twice. I hope I posted the better one. This is one of "Lyn's Syns"....the C.

Lyn, I think this is speeded up in the mp3 player above, right?

That happens because your default sampling rate in your recording software is set to something other than 44100 Hz. Look in your Help file and see if you can figure out how to set it.

In the meantime, you could email your original mp3 file to some kind soul here who could then convert it to the right sample rate that plays back at the correct speed.

I'm sure someone will volunteer.

In the meantime, the download version is the correct speed. Very nice.

Oh my gosh! I did the attachment and jrc did the player. I can't remember where I saw it, but it is set at what you said to put it at. This same thing happened at Christmas time with the player. I'll just use the attachment. I like it......besides, I just got the hang of it.

BTW, I don't like that eye looking at me. Can you do one with the eye closed?

is anyone using the embedded player? Lyn tells me it's still not right, but it sounds OK on my machine - any opinions?

Kitty,

Where do you find the default sampling rate, on the computer? I'll check it again.

Ummm, if that's what is immediately after Lyn's original post (the blue and green "thingy") then yes I did

It would be a setting in your recording program. What are you using to record your playing?

I'm using the software that came with my Sony ICD-P520 Recorder called Digital Voice Editor 3. Under the mp3 Conversion tab, it has a choice of high, standard or small file quality. It doesn't have that sampling thing at 44100. The songs that I record go into Musicmatch Jukebox. I found a setting on there for 128, 96, or 64kbps. What should it be at? If it's the 64kbps, won't my recordings sound not good? I have it set at 96kbps now.

I want to thank jrc for all his help. He spent his whole morning trying to find out why my songs are wacky on the player. It all boils down to my computer being to fast for my little Sony recorder. Actually, the recorder is too slow for the computer. Thank you ever so much!! You are an :angel2:

Gratefully,
Lyn

You'll be much happier with a mic recording with Audacity than the Sony. Audacity is free, and an inexpensive mic can sound pretty good. There are some guys here that can help with that. I have a dedicated multitrack machine for recording, I don't use my PC so I'm really not up to speed on what's a good value in that area. Additionally, you have some multi-track facility in Audacity as well as some effects ( echo, wah-wah, etc) that are fun to play with.

Happy recording -

jrc

That's a different thing than the sampling rate. I don't want to make your eyes glass over by explaining the difference between the two.

I'd second JRC's advice and say give Audacity a try. It's free so if you don't like it, oh well. Plus we have a tutorial for beginners on recording with Audacity and posting to the forum.

Wow! Although I was a little confused by the Alvin and the Chipmunk version, the downloadable one worked fine and sounds lovely. Well Played.
Are those birdies I hear singing along?

Thank you, and yes, TC. They are my 2 Spice Finches, Nutmeg and Cinnamon. It's funny, I never heard them chirping while I was recording.

That just astounds me still - I played my Syn C with both versions and played them together and the pitch/speed was fine.
