Hi all,

We can now upload our recordings to Praise Whistlers via FTP (File Transfer Protocol). :D

There are free FTP programs out there you can use to connect and upload your files. Here are just a few:

However, you can also use Internet Explorer 6. Just open your browser and type the location. Then drag your file from My Computer into the browser window and the file will transfer (does not work with FireFox). [Sorry, you Mac users are on your own. :(]

Whichever method you use, here are the details you'll need:
    user name: praises
    password: jesusislord

This gets you access to the "incoming" folder where your file is temporarily stored.

Once your file is uploaded, send a PM to Dana** and she (notice how casually I volunteer Dana) will move it and create a listing on the Praise Clips page.

**[EDIT: Dana is too overloaded at the moment, so send a PM to Kitty instead.]

Should this become a problem — for example, non-members begin uploading spam — we'll change the password and everyone will have to acquire their password my PM. But let's see how it goes for now.

If anyone needs detailed directions for using FTP, start a thread and we'll try to help.

Well, I'd like to "volunteer" Walden, our resident Praise Clips expert. :)
Either way, we'll get this done.

Question by the 'technologically-challenged" ... does the "Bended Knee" project from the other board need transferred - or is it "safe" where it's at?

Kitty volunteers Dana, who volunteers Walden .... are we in the Army??

Did we ever get a system setup for getting sound clips up? I sent one in and was thinking about a couple of others.

One question on copyright . . . I know the Tinwhistle Tunes (Clips & Snips) have recordings of all kinds of tunes, and I know they aren't checking for copyrights, do we know for sure that posting songs like that in this environment, of a forum, is a legal issue? I would be curious to ask someone like Mary Bergin how they look at this, since nobody is doing for profit, but it's more a part of our learning certain kinds of tunes, and sharing them with each other, to some degree, for education. And since if we credit the author of the tune, they do get credit, and I doubt too many of the original authors would be concerned that we can play better than them, or be a threat to their income generated or perceived "lost" through our posting of songs that were written by others. Just a thought.
