Anyone ever play the whistle solo from "Be the Center"?

My band leader said he'll put it on the next set if I'm comfortable enough with it. I guess it's off the "Hungry" CD.

If you have the part written out, let me know. It doesn't sound hard and I'm pretty sure I could figure it out but with all the other things I have going on, if I could save time by NOT having to transcribe...that would be great.

KAT, I'm not familiar with this. Is Hungry a group or the name of a CD? And I haven't heard of "Be The Center," although that's not saying much, since I haven't heard of much when it comes to Christian songs that are familiar to long-time Christians.

This was actually the first worship song that made my eyes widen when the whistle part began. :) I immediately played it for LisaD and it became one of our most favorite worship songs, not just because of the whistle but because of the heartcry of the song.

I can write it out for you later today (or at least my interpretation of it) but I'm going to have to run an errand soon.

Blackhawk, it's a Vineyard worship CD called "Hungry." One of their best. It came out about 6 or 7 years ago I would guess.

Thanks, Kitty. I see another CD in my future, if it's still in print.

Ah...that didn't take long. That's a really pretty whistle part.

That one is a compliation of songs from different albums. In my opinion, this one (Hungry) is still better:

Kim, sorry about not getting back to you yesterday. As usual, my day got a bit hectic.

You could wait for me or another member to get back to you on the whistle music, OR -- you could download it here for $1.00.

Kitty,

Thank you so much for the link to that whistle part! For only a 1.00 it's worth it!

It made me follow the link to the main audiblefaith website and try to find the sheet music for the whistle part to In Christ Alone...but I couldn't find it. I'm also not sure how you went about finding the whistle part to Be the Centre...the link you provided obviously has it in the cart already, but when I tried looking for it, I never found the results you did.

Let me know how you found it so I can look for other whistle parts as well.

thanks!

Glad you like it. :)

That one and Vineyard's "Winds of Worship 12: Live from London" remain my two favorite Vineyard CD's.

Sorry to bring back an older thread, but I'm new here. :) What a great site--I never knew it existed! (I'm a flute & whistle player, by the way.)

Anyway, I wanted to say that we performed 'Be the Centre' (with whistle, guitar & voice only) at church not too long ago, & I wrote the part out by ear. So if anyone ever needs it, feel free to PM me sometime! :) It's a great whistle part, for sure!

Cheers & God bless,

Amanda

Howdy Amanda!

Those are some nice-looking instruments in your avatar.

But the important question: what kind of chocolate do you like? :)

Maybe I should also post a photo of my whistle first....

Image

(I have a larger picture, seems like photobucket always compresses things more...) It's amazing to see the change in the wood on this one, too--it's even darker now than it was when I took this pictures four or five months ago!

Maybe a new photo including the whistle in the family is in order... :)

By the way, I like dark chocolate best.... with mint. 8)

Welcome, Amanda! Nice looking whistle and flute collection!

.... and a fine choice of chocolate, too! :D
