I'm going to officially start the contest. All those who play, record, and post tunes on The Praise Exchange (starting from tune #14 and lasting until sometime in September) will be eligible to win a free whistle. Your name will be listed once for each of the tunes you record (no more than one time for each hymn) and I'll draw the name of the winner from this list. (If you've already posted on 14-17, you're already on the list for each tune on which you've posted.)

The whistle I give a way will be a good whistle. To keep your interest piqued, I'm going to give hints along the way as to what whistle it is. Today's clue: it has something to do with water. (Those of you who don't know me well should know that I love to give clues and some of them may or may not be misleading.)

In addition to the main contest, the winner of which will be drawn anonymously, I will also give away a few other whistle and/or gifts to a few in selected and arbitrary categories (this may be something such as "My personal favorite," "The best solo whistle clip," "The best whistle, guitar, and cat ensemble"). These will be more subjective -- not really announced in advance, and decide mostly by me. ;)

Though it may hurt your chances of winning the whistle, please let others on this list (who have never recorded, or who haven't done so recently) know about the contest and encourage them to be a part. (I may even make it a rule that we need a certain number of different people to have posted for the contest to hold. We'll see. Just spread the word around to PWA folks.) One way or another, please play, record, and post.

Anyone recording will be up for the main whistle giveaway. There may be a secondary prize for best non-whistle, best vocal, coolest recording with an imaginary lion, etc. Just play and record.

Delrin mouthpiece, drainpipe sound, dolourous, durable, dark, dented, digital, has differentia, dichotic, diaposon, diatonic, is used for dhyana, made from dentallium, is demilune shaped like some other Celtic instruments, is dampened for quiet practice, the holes are disproportionate, it is dyssymetric? Give us a real clue.

This Week's clue: the first two words of a poem read at the presidential inauguration of 1993.

September's close, folks. I'm probably going to wait till near the end of the month so that there's a couple more tunes for people to play and record.

As of yet, people aren't falling all over each other to get things recorded. It's a nice whistle, people. And even if you don't care about the whistle, please record.

Just to make it clear:

I'll be drawing the name, choosing the winner of the whistle, later in the month of September not at the beginning. There is still time to play and record.

If all goes as planned, I will draw the name on September 22.
