Connie is letting me borrow her PVC Silkstone. I notice the PVC is much mellower than the alloy I have. It's very expressive on aires, but I found last night that it handles jigs and reels quite well too. I ordered a PVC a from Whistle and Drum a little over a week ago and I can't wait to get it! Connie very graciously let me use her PVC C to get the feel for the second octave on that type of whistle. I heard the second octave was hard to play on those, but I don't think it's too bad. It's certainly easier than a Susato, though the C can be tricky at times.

Give me a Silkstone alloy any day, but if you're getting music out of that PVC, more power to ya! Looking forward to hearing what you're sounding like on that thing with some practice.

Sounds like the PVC A was a good choice.

My position on alloys is crumbleing. I thought alloys were first rate and I guess I still do, but those PVCs are turning out to be really good too. I'd love to hear a Bb!

I ordered a Silkstone. It's going to take a while to get, because he had some major flooding hit him, and he's having a tanking system put in his workshop. It'll probably be at least the end of September before I get it. Have you played Silkstones before?

Not yet so I'll be pleased to hear what you think of it when you get it. I have read good reports about Paul's whistles and have been tempted to order one on several occasions.

I absolutely love the Silkstone Alloy. The only reason I parted with mine was to trade up to Greenwood cocobola wood whistle, which was every bit worth the trade. I like the pvc too, and use it quite often, but Whistlenut seems to be having it a better time with it than I do.
