Our town had its balloon rally this weekend.

Due to other pressing engagements I only got a few pictures. Here are two.

See the two flags on the right? The theme was "Pirates in the Sky!"

Here's a bad picture of the "balloon glow" after dark.

I needed a tripod, which I couldn't have used anyway with kids pulling me from balloon to balloon to meet the pirates.

I am jealous ... you have blue sky and clouds ... I had dull gray and granular. Nice pictures. That is pretty cool when they fire up their burners at night....

I hope to catch another one some day .... they are fun to watch ... especially when they are trying to hit targets ....

Tomorrow when I get on broadband I'll upload some pictures of pirates "storming" a basket.

The event was marred when a balloon hit a main power line. Was harrowing for rescue workers, but the balloonists escaped with no injuries and the rally continued through the weekend.

Alas, they canceled the event here. Too windy and a storm was blowing up.

Sorry to hear that, Kitty. Wind was what blew the balloon off course here. I was surprised they kept it going.

Here are some more balloons glowing in the night:

At one balloon some pirates stormed the basket. Amateurs by Shadoes' standard--they looked like they were having too much fun.

After successfully repelling the visiting pirates, the home pirates gave out treasure.

I've never seen so many balloons at one time. Amazing. We just get the odd one or two in the summer in the town we live in when in England.

Nice shots .... have two festivals in Texas this month .. may have to try and make one or both. They are a lot of fun and the fliers and crews are always friendly.
