One of the presents that Adrian gave me for Christmas was his old Fuji compact. He took me out for a day of lessons on how to take photographs and in the evening he spent an hour showing me how to make simple adjustments to pictures with Photoshop.

It's lambing time. Here's a kid with it's mum. It's one of triplets.

Image

I like lambs.

Having a drink in a frosty field.

There are prayer shrines all over Greece, where they have been since ancient times. This one is on a mountainside.

A snowy lane in my village.

This lone tree caught my eye.

A rare Greek triangulation pillar on top of a mountain.

This mountain is called Chal. We haven't been up it yet.

Trying out the macro setting.

Adrian out walking in the mountains with his staff.

Image

This was meant to be a picture of Adrian on the forest path. See if you can find him. Jim might need his extra powerful magnifying glass.

This is a cross on a mountain overlooking our town on Boxing Day.

It took me an hour of patient waiting before the flags unfurled to give me this photo. Apparently photographers say that you must suffer to get a good picture.

You have a good eye ... and think my favorite is the grass closeup .. and the flags (what is the bottom one ) ... and the forest with Adrian in there somewhere (searching for my electron microscope) ..... nice getting a better idea of what Adrian looks like. That staff looks a mite thin ... figured it was thicker than that ... but ash ... it will take a shot or two.

Seems that you have on extreme weather clothes ... had similar in Army ... nice but heats up as you walk or work... so do you do "layers" and shed as needed?

I am glad that he is letting you play now ... but be careful it is very habit forming! :D

Really nice photos, Susan! I love sheep and taking pictures, too.

Thank you for your kind comments.

Jim, the yellow flag is the modern Greek Orthodox church flag. The thin staff that Adrian was using is made from cornelian cherry and is very heavy, even though thin. He uses this one as it is what the shepherds use in the hills and is at least twice as heavy as ash. Yes we do use layers, but it was quite a cold day, with a brisk wind.

The bug has already bitten.

To me the greatest thing about a photograpy is that you capture ...forever ... an event ... or a place .... a mood ..... or some of God's work. It is yours to remember as often as you see it. It can be like when we purchased a bigger outdoor swing set for my oldest girl. She wanted to help me assemble it and Myrna took the shot of us working together. She was 5 ... and it took us twice as long to get it up as it would have with me working solo but wouldn't take anything for the time or the picture that helps me recall it. I honestly think photography is one of God's greatest gifts to us .... sure beats the heck out of whacking a big rock with a hammer and chisel.... just to have something to rememeber! :)

I have changed my minds on my favorite shot .. I like teh woods .. and didn't seem to miss Adrain at all .... it is a very good shot ... perhaps better than with him. Photographically speaking of course!!! \:D/

Jim, we agree on something! I think pictures without me are vastly better than ones with me in. When people give me pictures of myself I always put them in the garbage as soon as possible.

Now see ... I should have worded that differently.

I meant that the photo was so good that any person would have been a distraction.

You actually take a fairly good picture ... and it is amazing what Susan did with photoshop to help you out!!! \:D/

Adrian... I liked this picture of you, I feel it caught your gentle nature. And you clean up well after a shave and a haircut, but the "scruffy" look is good too. Is the black-eye from taking one of Susan's recorders or was it a "guitar attack" like Connie suffered?

All kidding (pardon the pun) aside these were very nice pictures Susan. Will be fun to find out how you see things compared to Adrian. Great that you can come here and share with us too.

Susan, I am going back to school tomorrow. It would be a sad, depressing thing, except for the fact that I can will have the bandwidth to view your pictures. I can't wait!

Very nice pictures, Susan. My favorite is the woods shot with Adrian hiking.

Connie, the pixs did take a couple of hours to fully load on my pitiful (26.4Kbps) dial-up. But oddly enough, after they loaded the first time, they re-load quickly now. That's not a normal thing to happen. Wonder if the new board set-up has something to do with it? :-s

They're cached in your laptop temporarily.

Would have been worth the two-hour download.

Good shot. Maybe have him not looking at the camera sometime when you get the opportunity to do a shot like this again. It will look more spontaneous.

Very nice first outing!

Connie, a triangulation pillar is apparently known as a trigonometrical station in America. I got that from Wikipedia. It's a fixed surveying point for cartographers and are usually found on the tops of hills and mountains. Many of the shrines date back to pre-Christian times and have now been Christianized.
