Joy has been very poory again and I'm afraid i slipped into my angry and bitter stage for a while..........but had a real experience this morning early. Some years ago i made a wooden cross for Joy to put in our front porch so that all who called would see it and hopefully be moved..and as a witness to our faith.
I stood outside early this morning and the sun was up...it seemed to light the cross and it drew my attention in a way as never before.......I came straight in and sat down and wrote a few verses..which I would like to share...okay ..never be a great poet...but this came from my heart and when I shared it later with Joy she told me she knew I was angry and that she believed this was God speaking to me

As I gazed upon the cross
and empty leafless tree I saw
where He had died, and God had cried
an empty cross....I stood in awe
and wonder how He could have loved
in such a way to give His all
to save a wretched man like me
from sins dread curse, from mankinds fall
the tears flowed free...I cannot tell
how long I stood there in that place
but this I know that on the cross
He took my sin and gave me grace
As thunder rent the heavens apart
as God Himself with broken heart
shut out His Son to hide my sin
and cleanse this heart of mine within
how can I understand such love
how can I understand such grace
that Jesus died to wash me clean
that one day I will see His face
The glory of the risen Christ
the wonder of His victory won
that God should love me in this way
to give.....for me...His only Son.

I wanted to say something to respond to this, but right now I find myself speechless.

Dear Les,
Poetry and crosses: they are how to say
So much in such a simple way.

All of God's anger at sin He distilled in the Cross.
Our anger can be dispelled in a poem.

The Psalmists often opened their verses with anger
But always seem to have ended them with praise.

Yours is so well spoken and it touches us so much!
Mack

Your poem came at a good time on this end, Les. God's been drawing me lately--to the cross. Thanks for posting it--God uses you greatly these days.

You and Joy are in my prayers too.

We are gifted with some wonderful poets on this board. While I appreciate every poem each have shared .... this touches me in the deepest recesses of my soul. Like Robbie, the right words are failing me here...

Thank you, Les -- for all you have shared --the verse, the wisdom, the anger, the fears ... the Joy.

God Bless!

That is simply beautiful!

If someone could compile all the poems written by members of PWA and make a book or something, that would be so cool!!!
