My wife and I went for a walk early this morning. We usually have a class that we are teaching at this hour, but we had the day off from that so we had time to get out. Took a few pictures (mostly from the same spot as you'll see) -- nothing spectacular, but still plenty of beauty.

I probably like this last one the best:

Wonderful pictures, Keith. Good thing I'm not in Hawaii -- I'd never leave the beach! Just seems like the awesome power of God is closer or more evident near sunset or sunrise on the beach.

Stunning pictures! You live in a beautiful place.

Did you go for a swim?

Beautiful, Keith! Makes me wish I were back there again.

It is a very good thing that I don't live there .. I would never get off the beach ... except to print my pictures. You live in a beautiful spot ...

The pictures are great ... isn't it something how one sunset/sunrise can end up providing so many different shots. If I get into one like you did .. I never give up on it until there is no possibility of anything else happening. I have seen sunsets quit for a few minutes and then pop up again with an even more stunning display of God's works. He sure does put on a show sometime.

Now .. back to my dull gray sky ... sigh :(

Thanks for sharing these gorgeous pictures! I think the last one is my favorite, too, Keith.

Hmmmm Maybe I should stimulate the economy with a trip to Hawaii. Of course it will take a few years to get my wife on the plane. It took almost six months to get her on a plane to Ireland. I love the pictures. The clarity of the water is amazing.

These are all beautiful, Keith. My favorite is #4 and my second favorite is #1. I really enjoy seeing your pictures of Hawaii. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for the comments, all. Just a few replies to specific questions.

Adrian: The Camera is an Olympus D-580 Zoom http://www.epinions.com/content_145548873348
This is our first and only (thus far) digital camera. A friend recommended it and we bought it a Costco. I'm an amateur in all of this, so I know there's lots more can be done if I knew more -- not to mention different cameras and lenses. Still, I've been pleased with the pictures it takes. No swimming on this outing--just a 45-50 minute walk (9 minutes from front door to beach). It would have been just a little precarious swimming anyway as the there were cross currents/tides a little stronger than normal. I did see a sea turtle.

Connie, thanks for liking these. I did think the sunrise was beautiful (most are), but not jaw dropping stunning as some days. That's all I meant. I think God's love is like that: there's a daily beauty and uniqueness (even if it's simple or with clouds and rain); once in a while God sends something along that knocks us off our feet with wonder.

Next week we travel to Southeast Idaho. The change in weather will be a shock to the system.

It most definitely will! When I was in the US Navy at one point I was stationed on Midway Island. When my tour there was over I left for Wisconsin the first week of January and was wearing dress whites #-o When my fight landed at O'Hare in Chicago it was 6 degrees.... If I remember correctly I had laryngitis for a week!!!

Adrian - I could get her on a plane quicker than a ship. I used to have a 16 foot runabout and she hated that.

Keith - My granddaughter lives in Rexburg. Right now the snow is hip deep on her. She is about 5' 11". Have fun.
