When Ren-tin-ten posted The Star of the County Down, I told him I liked that tune and that I was playing along with the whistle. He said he'd like to hear it recorded, and maybe we could do it together. So, after getting in touch with him, I said I'd give it a try. I hadn't played it in a while so I added some ornamentation and, well, here it is: The Star of the County Down with Ren-tin-10 on the dulcimer and Lyn D on the Burke D whistle:

 Well done, Lyn and Ren! The tune is one of my favorites, and this combination of dulcimer and whistle is really a good one. =D>

I like it, Lyn! And Ren! This is fun. Good job, both of you.

Here it is with a little mix-magic and all three of Lyn's whistle parts combined.

Even better. Lyn, which whistle(s) were you playing?

The first time, I used my Burke D Composite. The other 2 times, I used my Burke DBSBT - brass D session with the black tip.

The Composite is one of the whistles I got for my 40th anniversary. The other is a Water Weasel A/Bb set. Thank you to my hubby for my whistles  and thank you to Blackhawk for parting with them.

Connie,

This is much better than flowers.

WOW! Ren. The mix is awesome! It's amazing what you can do when you know what you're doing! Thank you for this opportunity..........I really enjoyed it. If you find another song that you'd like to do together, I'd be happy to give it a try.

Sincerely,
Lyn

Hmm ... I can listen to Lyn's version ... (quite cool, BTW! 8) ) .... but when I click on Ren's re-mastered version I get "ezFolk error - that file is not intended for download". Kinda made me feel like a red-headed stepchild -- not being allowed to hear it here on PWA .... :(

Did get to listen from ezFolk proper ... =D>

Don't feel bad - even I couldn't get it. Or any of my other tunes. ](*,)

Must be some site maintenance going on or something. If it keeps up, I guess I'll have to go another route (e.g. Fileden). :-'

Somethings definitely up at EzFolk - it says I have over 405,000 downloads  . Quite a jump overnight, up from about 250  .

I thinks there's 'issues' ;) .

Grand! Very grand!
The 3-whistle part composition says file doesn't exist though. :|

Kris,

:-k Do you mean you can't find just the 3-whistles part by itself? I didn't record the whistles seperately. Ren recorded the tune on the dulcimer, then, I added the whistle to the dulcimer recording, and I did that 3 times. One time was with my Burke Composite D and the other two times were with my Burke Brass D, and standing at different distances from the recorder. Then, Ren put all 3 whistle parts together with the dulcimer. I hope this answers your question.

Lyn

Ah. The link works now. Interesting.
I just meant the link was broken.

Can't listen to it yet, though.
