Wow, another one from my childhood! I'm loving these, Connie. I have been working on the last one, but am having the usual trouble with timing, even with the online metronome, but I'll catch up! Thanks for all these songs, Connie! Keep up the good work.

Ah! This is a good old song. It was the very first song I picked out entirely by ear, when I was a child.

Great job!

Now let's have some non-Ozarkian contributions.

Well ... here is my version ... used a Tommy tweaked ... Gen ... Eb whistle.

I really like this song ... hard to stay down and play this one ... and fairly easy to get up while playing.

Another good one!

I like the way you "brought it in for a landing" by repeating the last two measures. 8)

OK, we've expanded from the Ozarks to the South Central U.S. Now let's get the rest of the planet involved.

Thanks ... I didn't even look at the sheet music ... but the way I played it is the way we sing it and about the same speed or maybe a little faster if Myrna is feeling froggy!

Okay ... here's a quick version from foothills of the Appalachians in Southern Ohio, using the folk flute (for a change) and mountain dulcimer -- a bit rough though. I hadn't heard this song before. Someone needs more practice on many, many things, like flute, dulcimer, recording, blending ....

:-k Connie posted this song at 10pm on Monday, and Ren posted his version by 11:11pm same day. :?

It's obvious you don't have to practice, Ren, just by the playing. Don't have to rub it in by being so speedy! ;)

Aaron, I thought for a moment you snuck a concertina in your mix. The harmonica is cool! 8)

Jim, the Texas version is nifty. You should set your recorder up sometime and get duet of you & Myrna to share. \:D/

The dearth of Elisha Hoffman and Fanny J. Crosby material in the Episcopalian hymnal is one of its chief shortcomings, but there is still a lot of wonderful stuff in there.

Beautiful rendition. I forgive your prejudice against drones.

Well, the concertina is more-or-less a bellows-fed harmonica (or French-harp, as we say where I come from).

I can't believe you haven't heard and sung this song Judy ... you need to get out more! ;)

I remember this from my childhood ... back when the 8' vertical windows were rotatated open and the ceiling fans were humming and the cardboard fans were trying to keep us cool while the flies circled overhead ..... the good old days! We still play it today ... along with praise and worship songs .... we have the "full meal deal"!

Like the combo of instruments ..... nice job

As for Myrna and I playing together ... I don't know .... we never seem to manage it.

Thanks for the compliment, but to tell you the truth, I already had the dulcimer hooked up and the recording software started to record something else when Connie's message came in. I already knew the tune, so I just had a quick change of plans. Now what was I going to record originally? I can't remember.

Nice one, Judy! In my opinion, the dulcimer is just as good as the guitar, if not better, at combining with the flute. =D>

Very good, Judy, especially since you'd never heard the song before! I think the folk flute works well with the mountain dulcimer.

Anyone know the chords right off hand?

(Because I'm too lazy to try and figure them out)

Make some up. I think it's cool to do these songs outside of the traditional form... just my opinion.
