This is a collaborative project in the old timey music style. Guitar, milk jug (it's a "dry" jug band :) ), mandolin, washboard, triangle, comb-and-tissue-paper, ukulele, banjo (of any flavor), gut bucket bass, musical saw, French harp ("harmonica" to the city slickers), cow bell, fiddle, tuba, bones, spoons, tambourine... most anything that might be played on a street corner would work!

Anyone wishing to contribute can add their track to this project. I've uploaded a banjo track of my own playing.

It is an old Southern gospel hymn, "Just Over In the Glory-Land". Here is the Cyberhymnal page for it: http://nethymnal.org/htm/j/u/justover.htm

Can we set out a tip jar? If we start playing at 10:30 in the morning and we sound good, we should have enough money by noon for all of us to go eat lunch somewhere nice.

Cheers,
Jim

If you like, I could start us off by creating a MIDI backing track and score. It would be sort of like that one on Cyberhymnal except that I would do it in the key of G and at the approximate tempo of Aaron's banjo track.

Then everyone could record their parts to this and e-mail them to me, then I could do the final mix.

If you like, I could also download some of the awesome photography on this site and make a slide show out of it for YouTube.

Whaddaya think?

Sounds good.

We could do a different song. I just chose this one because I already had a banjo track of it.

I think cross-harp or straight harp would either one be appropriate. Historically, jug bands played straight harp, but with quite a bit of note-bending.

The problem with the file is that I uploaded a Windows Media file, rather than an MP3, and so there are compatibility issues.
