NEAR THE CROSS
music by W. H. Doane
words by Fanny J. Crosby

1. Jesus, keep me near the cross,
There a precious fountain
Free to all, a healing stream
Flows from Calvary’s mountain.

CHORUS: In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.

2. Near the cross, a trembling soul,
Love and mercy found me;
There the bright and morning star
Sheds its beams around me.

3. Near the cross! O Lamb of God,
Bring its scenes before me;
Help me walk from day to day,
With its shadows o’er me.

4. Near the cross I’ll watch and wait
Hoping, trusting ever,
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.

Better late than never but I just saw the video! Can't imagine playing two instruments at the same time. Quite nice Mr. W! Quite nice.

Thank you so much.

Really, if a person can already play a stringed instrument and a harmonica separately, it comes far more naturally to play them together than you'd imagine, like singing and playing guitar.

When I was a teenager my Grandma Hazel suggested to me that I should "get one of those things that holds the french-harp around your neck, so you can play both instruments together."

the harmony was played on a Reviol low E.

Very nice, Randy. I just listened to it several times.

Did you use double track recording to get the two parts? It sounded great.

Yes. It was recorded on my ipad in garage band. I'm not a master of garage band, but it is fairly easy to record yourself. Thanks w for your kind words.

Using the iPad to surf PWA is great until I want to listen to something. After wandering around the device looking for workarounds for video and the download nature of our site's file storage, I am overwhelmed by one thought: it is worth it!

Nice, nice job Aaron and Randy. Both lovely in completely different ways.

Connie

Nice, Joelle! I really enjoyed the tempo and the switch between instruments.
