You don't play chords so neck size isn't that much of a problem.
Also I have found tuners a lot cheaper and strings are less. These have become so popular with doityourselfers parts have come way down. A halfway decent pickup seems to work well with the vibrations the bass strings produce. They are almost like rubber bands. Like nylon they reach a stable tension and stay in tune. There are tricks to tuning which are easily learned.

If you want to see and perhaps find some info on ukes go to Kala ukuleles. I have soprano and tenor. Love them both. Hi everybody it's been a while.

Welcome back Ron!

I haven't ventured into the ukulele avenue, but they sure look like fun!

Mack, that is some of the niftiest playing! Way beyond my talent levels, but COOL!

Can I give you an answer after Memorial Day? Things here are super busy for the next few days. No time for me to poke around and see how my nephew feels about a bass uke.

Ron!

Who knew a guitar thread on a whistle board by a dulcimer player could cause a revival?

Tommy, whistles are still top!
Anything else just is background to make whistles stand out.
