Re: Wellness Check?

I am alive and well. No virus or flu. I did get an upsetting health issue today. The “permanent” dental bridges I have are deteriorating and need to be replaced. The doctor is trying to minimize my cost. I have a major problem. I have no insurance and no money. LOL but I am having fun playing whistl...

Re: new iPhone pix

About two hours away from us is Lancaster, PA. My family on my mother’s side is from that area. I have both Amish and Mennonites in my family. In fact one of my ancestors was the first Mennonite minister in America. It wasn’t the United States yet. BTW for those who might wonder about the picture it...

New Harmonica

I decided to buy a new harp. But not like the usual ones. I bought a Hohner melody maker. The difference Is that it is not tuned to the usual Richter tuning but to an equal temperament. This means that it plays a “regular” scale not the modified scale of the usual harmonica. I bought the Hohner beca...

Interesting you mentioned 61 years. My wife and I have been together for 61 years starting 9 May. My grandson lives in Idaho Falls so we can’t get together. But he has brothers and sisters that play also. My number 3 daughter was here last Sunday for the Scrapbook convention in Chantilly Va. My wife...

Wife’s Birthday

My wife had a birthday on the 25th. I have been having fun because she is a few months older than me. I rotate among whistles, ukes and harmonicas. My great grandson just got back from a short trip to the Dominican Republic teaching English. While there he bought a Kala KA-S uke. He said they were a...

Randy I already have a soprano and I have been thinking of a concert. Then of course there are different woods. A concert in Koa would be nice.

My daughter Terrie just moved from near Ft Lauderdale FL to Castlerock Colorado. She has lived in Florida for 29 years. The day they arrived in there new home it was snowing. Her son Kevin is 25 years old and the only time he ever saw snow was when he visited here. He is hoping it will snow one more...

Harmonica by ear

Does anyone else find it easier to play harmonica by ear than other instruments? I played a little random notes and it sounded like down in the valley. So I gave it a try. My wife said that sounds good. So I tried rock of ages. She said that sounds good too. How about yawl.

Re: HEY RON!!

It was great Judy. Two of my daughters came in one from a Florida and one from Ohio. It was quite a surprise. I have been a little sick for a while. Allergies and flu put me down for a while. I am doing well now. I am playing harmonica, whistle and uke now, tenor uke. I have been away for a short ti...

We had no snow and today it was 67. We have had record rainfall though. If it does snow I will curl up with a harmonica or whistle and hibernate. Ron

Here lately I have been playing mostly harmonica. I don’t know any Christmas music on harmonica. BTW if say harp I am talking about the harmonica not the stringy thing. But I would love to hear a compilation.

Re: Wet weather & rainbows

Here in beautiful Maryland we have had record breaking rain. The other day there was 4 inches of rain at national airport. The record was 1.3 inches 100 years ago. On the way to church on Sunday we came upon a sink hole that was 20 feet deep. We have had enough.

Thanks Mack. I do not want all of them. I am considering adding a Lee Oscar to the batch. So far I really like the Seydel Session Steel. The wider spacing is hard to get used to but it has a great sound and stainless steel reeds. I am dreaming that if I get a holder I can accompany myself on the ten...

I have ,so far, a Hohner special 20, a seydel blues steel, a cheap Hohner and an antique gondola made some time in the 40s or 50s. It was my father in laws. It’s in perfect tune.

Harmonicas

Nobody told me that harmonicas are like penny whistles. I am up to 4 already. They are not cheap either. But they have a great sound. Harder to learn than the penny whistle also.

Re: How is your weather?

We had 1 1/2 inches of snow followed 2 days later by 76 degree weather. Tomorrow we are expecting 78 degree weather. It looks like the next 10 days. We are in the 50s and 60s. New harmonica is nice. Not going to be as easy to learn as the whistle. The weather is better than the 20 degree weather we ...

I have a Kala S and a Kala T. I really like the tenor. It has the right spread for my fingers. However I am starting to learn harmonica. I am buying a Hohner special 20 in C. I have been learning on an antique Gondola. Ron
